CHICO'S TALE

A Brief Biography

Chico was 4 years old when he was rescued from the orphanage (AKA Humane Society) in November, 1997. It was a shaky first week in his new home--Chico had contracted a virus in the orphanage. His new owner (me) thought he was just very depressed, but actually he was physically ill. Even a trip to the vet and a supply of antibiotics failed to reverse the course of his illness (the stress of the treatment seemed to his condition worse). For the first six days Chico did not eat, drank little water, and used the litter box maybe once a day. And I seriously thought that, around day 4 or 5, that I would come home from work and find him dead. But day 6! He was up and about, and finally ate and drank. A whole can over tuna over the day. It was like he was risen from the dead.

Chico fairly quickly settled into his new home. He came already neutered and declawed, and he is a sturdy 15 pounds (up nearly 5 pounds from when he was sick). He is an indoor kitty. He doesn't scratch or bite, hiss or growl. Chico is the Best Boy, and he can do no wrong.
